In week 3, we have started tuning into our first Unit of Study, 'Magic Materials' with much enthusiasm! The children have been busy exploring materials and becoming 'Materials Detectives.' They have explored a variety of materials and observed materials in our pod and ones that have been used to build our school. They recorded these observations by making a tally chart and finally creating a pictograph using the numbers.
From some of their initial understanding on materials, our children challenged themselves to build a bridge between two chairs that would withstand the weight of a plastic teddy bear (counting bears). They could choose any material from the classroom. This was an extremely fun activity for our children and involved a good amount of thinking, planning, collaborating and creativity. Proud to say they all worked!
Reading and Writing Workshops
Our Writing and Reading Workshops have been introduced this week and the main focus of these workshops over the next few weeks will be towards establishing routines and working independently.
