The highlight of last week was the children's presentations of their “Passion Projects”. You could tell that the children had worked hard and taken pains to put it all together. The children did a brilliant job with their presentations and we are extremely proud of their efforts and enthusiasm!
The children brought in lots of interesting props, costumes, balls, books, lego models, painting/drawings and photos to support their presentation. We even had homemade muffins! The children spoke confidently and enthusiastically and answered questions posed by their classmates.
A huge thank you to our parents who also shared their passions this week. Ethan’s dad rocked out on the drum-kit while Ethan’s mom showed us her skills in jewelry making - what a talented and creative family! We are expecting more parents to share their passions in the coming few days and we are really looking forward to that. Although we are moving on to a new unit, if you have a particular passion you would like to share, please drop me an email and we will make sure to build this into our week’s schedule. We have created a short iMovie on our Passion Projects and you will have the opportunity to enjoy this at the upcoming Student-Led Conferences.

In Mathematics, we have been working on “Addition Stories”. We are using the classroom resources to help us with addition problems, particularly the Twenty Frames and the Hundred Square. From here, we will move onto subtraction and continue to explore number families, before focusing on the concept of place value.
Last Thursday, it was lovely to see all the children dressed up in red, yellow and gold for Chinese New Year. We also watched the famous Lion Dance in the plaza. A big thank you to Natasha’s mum who came in to share a Chinese New Year story and decorate our classroom.
