Welcome back to Term 2 and a very Happy New Year!
It’s been a great break for me and hope you had some time to connect with families and friends. The highlight for me, personally, has been to meet up with my older brother after nine years! In all these nine years, we’ve been planning to meet up but somehow, distance (he lives in New York) or other circumstances prevented us from doing so. The children have come back to class happy and relaxed, with great stories from their holidays, especially those who travelled to places outside Singapore. While Ethan was busy riding a camel in Doha, Lekha was exploring the city of Pompeii and Joaquin watched sheep being sheared in a farm in New Zealand!
The children have been working individually, first identifying their passion, and then telling us why and how it makes them feel. In the coming week, we will write about what we know and what we want to find out about our passion and interest. It would be great if you could discuss this at home and share any photos or information you have of your child engaging in their passion. In the week before CNY, and to bring a close to this Unit of Study, the children will make a short presentation of their Passion Project in front of their classmates.

Unit of Study: Passion Projects
In class, the children have been talking about their passion and what they think is a “passion.” It was incredible to see how they immediately made connections to the presentation by Scott Hammel, who visited our school in Term 1. Scott has inspired thousands to find and pursue their driving passions, and to discover that any passion—even skydiving—can be used to effect positive change. In his presentation at school, Scott gave a powerful message, “find your passion and make it happen!”The children have been working individually, first identifying their passion, and then telling us why and how it makes them feel. Reminders
Please, please return your child’s Portfolios on Monday 13 January. These went home before the holidays and we need to start filling them up again.
