Mathematics
In K2PTh, we have been ordering and comparing objects by length, and sorting objects into categories according to length. We sorted and grouped names of children from shortest to longest, according to the letters in their names. We also constructed Name Towers (using cubes) with the letters of our names, and compared the different lengths of these towers, ordering them from shortest to longest. Next week, we will start exploring shapes, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional as part of our introduction into Geometry.
Writing Workshop
Children are continuing to write “True Stories” with focus on including setting and characters in the initial part of their personal stories. We have also talked about elaborating stories by including details and descriptive language in order to make their stories more enjoyable to the reader. The children have really been enjoying these writing sessions and are now beginning to work quite independently!
