Week 8

Workshare 

Thank you so much for attending and participating in our first Workshare. The children were so happy and proud to share their published pieces with you and even more so, to have you join with them in writing! This Writing Workshop would have given you a good insight into the structure and routines of a workshop session and an opportunity to see how the children work independently.  For our children, it was a really exciting day with two special events. First the workshare and then sharing their writing with the G3 buddies, who had brought in their published pieces as well. We exchanged compliments and celebrated our journey as writers. 

Swimming Pool Challenge

The “Swimming Pool Challenge” was a huge success and a brilliant way to end our unit “Magic Materials.” All our teams managed to carry the class pets across the swimming pool and only once did Daisy, the class pet, get a little bit wet. We took videos of the whole challenge - before and after - and are in the process of creating iMovies so that we can share these movies with you after the holidays. 

After the break, we will begin tuning-in to the next Unit of Study, “Where We Live Shapes How We Live.” The children will inquire into the types of different homes people live in and their location as well as research into the locations people live. They will investigate the way different climates and cultures affect our perspectives and the way we live and how people’s lives are connected across the world in a range of ways.

The children loved the idea of turning up in their Pajamas and with their sleeping toys! It was a relaxing day.

I would like to request the following:

1. Please take a photo of your child reading somewhere unusual and email it to me to display in the class for our Reading Workshop. 
2. Please email a photo of your home or child’s room here in Singapore for us to use as a provocation and tuning-in for the new Unit of Study.
